LOTUSINHAND SINGLES
Lotusinhand Singles is a Cardistry tournament with a completely reimagined format and a prize pool with no upper limit. The rules, schedule and prize pool are detailed below.
2023 Winner
Santiago Hernandez Alcade
Tournament Format
The tournament will open up with a public call for entries on 12/10 where each contestant may only enter with a single move and a single submission.
The tournament itself will be a double elimination tournament (brackets shown in image below). Each contestant will only be allowed to use one move per round. The final round will be the only exception where the round will be a best of 3 moves instead.
Lower bracket rounds could have extra rules for increased difficulty (e.g. themed rounds where contestants can only use one category/genre of moves, or rules that specify that the move has to be a variation of their opponent’s move…etc).
Tournament Rules
Video submission for each round (including entry) may only consist of one move. The only requirement for a move is that all decks and card(s) used start and end squared
All moves in all rounds must be performed with Lotusinhand decks and Lotusinhand decks only
Each entry must be filmed in a single take. Camera movements are allowed
Simple editing such as adding music or color-grading is allowed so long as it doesn’t affect the judges’ ability to clearly view the move. But they will not affect the scores given
The following judges will each cast one vote to determine the winner of each bracket
-Shivraj Morzaria (@shivshuffles)
-Lars Mayrand (@larsmayrand)
-Daniel Lin (@daniel96928)
6. All rounds will be judged using the following criteria:
-Execution
-Creativity
-Intent (this criterion will be used to judge the quality of aspects such as theme, completeness and purpose of a move)
Prize Pool
The tournament will have a prize pool with no upper-limit. We plan to achieve that by releasing a commemorative deck for the tournament called Tetra, which will first have a small initial release on 11/05 where each order will be limited to 2 decks. This initial release is to ensure that everyone that wants to enter the competition but that doesn’t have a Lotusinhand deck has a chance to grab one.
Following this initial release, there will be a broader release scheduled on 12/23 for Tetra that will be a pre-order. A third of the net proceeds from both the initial release and the broader release will go directly into the prize pool. Thus creating a prize pool with no upper limit. The prize pool will be publicly visible at all times on this page (note that the number will continuously update throughout the pre-order campaign and that the number shown isn’t final) and will be divided between the top 3 contestants with the following distribution:
First Place - 60%
Second Place - 30%
Third Place - 10%
Apart from the cash prize, the winner of the tournament will have their name engraved on The Baton (pictured on the right) and will be given The Baton to keep until the next tournament begins. All contestants must vow to return The Baton if they were to win the tournament while submitting their entry for the competition. The Baton will be passed along to all future winners of the tournament and will serve as a relic to honor past winners.
The winner will also have their victory immortalized on the Ethereum network by receiving the Tetra Uncut NFT.
On top of all that, the top 3 contestants will also each receive a mixed brick of Lotusinhand playing cards.
